Has anyone had experiences with '99 V-10's begining to miss at about 60,000 miles. Mine is starting to miss every now and then and a friend of mine just had to have 4 coils replaced when he hit 80,000 miles and it had been missing from time to time. At a cost of $130 /coil I'm not looking forward to replacing all of them, so how can you tell exactly wich one it is? Is there an alternative to taking it to the dealer and putting it on a diagnostic computer?
Thanks for any help!
I have not had this problem, as my 2001 F350 has only 9K miles as yet, but:
I gently suggest you gird your loins and take it to a dealer. They *do* have the equipment to properly diagnose your problem. We're sitting here in internet land guessing about causes and possibilities. Modern engine control systems are so complex that us old shade-tree mechanics don't have much chance at diagnosing, let alone fixing, most problems.
