Rattling Noise is really bugging me now......

It's either the fan, fan bearing, or something I don't know.

Mostly everytime I start the truck up it makes this stupid rattling noise coming from where the fan is. Kinda sounds like a loose bolt but it isn't, cause I check them all. When I look down at the pulley's and such they all look fine, the belt turns them fine and everything works o.k, it's just there is this stupid clicking/rattling noise that sounds so bad.

How do you replace the fan bearing if that is it. I noticed some play in the fan, as I could push/pull it back and forth. Could that be it?

I realy hate the noise!

It's probably your fan clutch. Replace it and it should quit plus it might run cooler

It is the aprox.7 inch disc that is part of your fan. Just unbolt the Entire piece from the waterpump and pull it and prob the shroud as well (on a 460 you have to). Unbolt the blades from the disc then reinstal with a new piece.

Yeah its on the fan. 4 bolts to take it off. U dont have to remove the fan shroud for the 302. It takes about 30 minutes to replace.

Check to make sure that the fan is not rubbing the fan shroud. When I replaced my water pump, I didn't put the shroud on perfectly and there isn't a lot of clearance. Mine was rubbing on the bottom.

it quits when the engine is warm, what is that all about! Has anyone ever installed a universal fan? If so how would you route the belt? I hate the clunking!

well if you arent going to fix it right, at least put a universal electric fan on, youll gain some lost hp (seince the fan isnt there to spin) and wont need the shroud,

Fan clutch us easier and much cheaper than a electric fan. approx $50 and 30 minutes of time 4 bolts on and off a cinch.
