Well I cranked my truck up today, I always let her run a few minutes before I drive her, longer of course on cold days. Well I started her up and for a fe minutes she had this real low, quiet rumble. Coming from somewehres in the engine bay, could not locate where She has NEVER done this before. It went away as the motor warmed up. It is not a cold day outside either. In the morning I am going to check oil and anti freeze for any mixing. I am praying for the best of course. I cannot afford anything to go wrong.
On my way home on the interstate I swore I could feel a slight vibe in the pedal, something I have not felt before. lasted maybe half a second at most.
Anyone have ANY ideas on what it could be?
Truck has 44,000 miles, has not been tuned up. the air ilter needs changed but I seriously doubt taht would have done it.

Next time you hear the noise, look for vibration in the serpentine belt. I had a similar noise with an old Chevy. The noise started out as a low rumble when cold and eventually became a rumble all the time. While looking for the noise, I noticed the belt was not running smoothly. It turned out the problem was the bearings on the tensioner pulley were slowly failing which allowed some free play on the pulley and caused the noise.

 

Thakyou. my tension pulley started squeling about 15k miles ago. We all know of Fords wonderful pulley.... :P
