alrighty i went and traded my 1990 5.0 litre motor, 5 speed tranny, and transfer case, for a 1984 f350 with a 351 windsor 4 speed borg warner tranny and transfer case. im planning on using the transmission and transfer case in my 1990 along with front and rear axles and suspension, so far all i have done is pulled motor and tranny and transfer case, and the tranny and transfer case will mount up just like my old set up did. i proceeded to drain transmission which had 80/90 in it. first is this right for fluid in it? next when i drained it i got some metal out of it, not a lot, but not a little. the most of the metal seems to be coming from the bottom gear on the side that bolts to the transfer case. its just on the front of the gear and doesnt look to substantial but its the first time ive looked at a manual tranny. also the magnet had quite a bit of metal flakes that would produce a jagged star shape when i put my magnet in on it and pulled it back out. any thoughts ideas or anything you can tell me would be great, also if any1 has done something like this i would love to hear your input. this is my first big project and its gonna be done right, i hope. as far as the axles and suspension any ideas on if its possible to take out mine with the coils and put in the leafs? or is it going to be a big pain.
