Air intake...disconnect battery cable?

I'm getting a MAC air intake this week and I believe that I've read someone on here that after the air intake is installed, you're supposed to disconnect the battery cable. Is this correct?

I believe the answer is yes...but before the install...some of the other tech types can chime in and really lay the words down...but I think it resets the PCM to "look for new mods" be it a chip....exhaust...whatever...

I don't believe it is totally necessary, but it is a good idea. Because you should be getting more air through - resetting the PCM makes the IAC and MAF 'relearn' the readings it is taking and will adjust from there...

i just put my mac intake on last night. the instructions said to take off the ground cable to. no big deal, i took off the cable while i was doing the install. I also turned the head lights on after taking off the ground wire just to drain any extra juice in the system. the only thing that seemed mess up was the time on my radio. all the presets were still there.
