Tire Info Superduty Owners Might Find Interesting
LAST EDITED ON 08-Oct-01 AT 07:35 PM (EST)[p]Trying to find some bigger non-Firebomb tires for a future superduty.
A dealer in Kaladar, Ontario, Canada has had three new Superduty's on the lot (obviously sold), shod with 285/75R16D BF Goodrich a/t's. They look awesome, especially with fender flares painted to match the two tone paint!
Most, if not all tire manufacturers recommend at least a 7.5 inch rim for this size of tire, whereas the stock Superduty rim is only 7 inches.
Now, for the interesting part: a Michelin Pilot LTX 265/65R17 requires a 7.5-9 inch wheel! When we all know that the Superduty comes with 265's!
So, this makes me believe that there is some discrepency allowed here and 285's would be a good fit! And don't tell me that you have 315's on stock rims, cause I need to maintain HIGH load capacity and can't run 35 psi.
Thanks!
Matt
Edit- As well, what is an inch taller in height going to do to speedo calibration? (how much)
How much power loss will I notice with the Powerstroke and 3.73's?

Don't crush them, restore them!

I think that when my dad and I finally get the Superduty ordered, we'll have the dealer put on 285 series Dunlop Radial Rover Rv's. They look a lot like the old Michelin XPS tractions that kicked ##### back in the day!

I'm thinking about putting 285's on my F-250 4x4 when the Tombstones wear down. A guy down the street from our office has 315/75R16 BFG AT's on his F-250 4x4 with stock rims. The tires look like they were made for the truck. Black, crew cab, all tinted windows, short bed, chrome brush guard/winch - good looking truck!

I just put 285's on stock rims. 2001 4x4 XLT w/alum rims. They look good but there is some roundness to the tread area unless you air them dowm a bit. They do look good but would look better on an 8" rim. I can imagine what the trucks look like with 305 or 315's on them.
