Late model bed swap

Has anyone looked into using a late model bed? Specifically on a '69 SWB Ranger.

How late?

I think you can use up to 79 with little or no modifications depending on wether or not it is 2wd or 4wd.

Anything after 79 would certainly be "different" in appearance and probably more of a challenge.

I'm thinking about something in the late 90's to current.
Surely this has already been thought of, or attempted.

I don't think you can. The trucks changed in 1973. I think you can install a 96 bed on a 73 but you can't install a 73 bed on a 72. Somebody will know for sure.
