Camshaft for 2.3 Ranger
I am about ready to push this damn truck over a hill at this point. It's so weak, that 4 banger just don't cut it. and The 2.02 gears don't help either. yeah you read that right, 2.02 gears out back. I didn't even know they existed. But anyways. I've put on a dual exhaust setup, a new, higher flow intake, and the thing gained a little bit more but it's still weaker than yo mama. I had the valve cover off the other day and saw how easy it would be to change the cam in it. Now my problem is finding a cam for this beast. Any suggestions. It's a 93 2.3 with dual sparkplug head. 5 speed.

A hill's not gonna be good enough...
...although, I know what that's like, I have the same truck only a year older. Fortunately for people like use the 2.3L I-4 is a popular engine in racing applications (mostly dirt, circle track), because it is practically bullet-proof. I've had a roomate who had a pinto w/ an approx. 300 (flywheel) hp one. As for the cam, I think that Comp Cams produces one and even if they don't, most reputable cam companies like them will custom grind a cam for whatever you need. And it's supposedly not too expensive from what I hear.
However, if you really don't like your truck that much you might want to look into just doing a V-8 swap.

How the heck did you end up with 2.02 gears????
That's your main problem right there!
I have 3.73s in my 94 SuperCab and I pass 85 when I feel the "need" to do so on a delivery run....
I get on people for saying the 2.3L is gutless--if they can shift, it's just fine--but you have to be jerking us about anything less than 3.08s for gears, right?
At least you can cruise 55 in first gear then since the engine is turning sooooo slowly!
