oil pressure vs cats

I have low oil pressure starts out around 50 but drops to 25 when warmed up and is down around 10 at idle.I am running 15w40 and a qt of straight 50wt to get that.Yesterday i pulled the catilitic converters off and put a walker pipe and 2 1/2 inch exhaust on it,i now have about 3 more puonds of oil pressure and it takes twice as long to start dropping down( i have a new mech gauge)What does the cats have to do with it?less back pressure causing the motor to runn cooler???

The pump will be going in in a week or 2
i am still debating on high volume or stock and should i go ahead and put rod and main bearings in while the pan is off,
If i run 10w30 oil i got about half of the above oil pressure ,what do yall think

I do drive this truck about 50 miles a day and some light hauling.so i need the motor to last right now i think its just getting broke in has around 200000 on it,My big concern is that sometimes i might have to make about a 400 mile trip in.i havent had to yet but the lincoln isnt going to hold up much longer

by th way its an 88 f250 4 speed 2wd

Should i replace the main and rod bearings while im in their to change oil pump
There realy isnt any knocking in this motor mostly some valve rattling at high rpm.their is an ocasional knock but not very often the motor runs smooth

i would go with the hi volume pump.if you have some wear it would help keep the rods and mains oiled up.ijust rplaced the pump inmy 87 300.idleing it holds 50 psi with 20w50.if the rods were not knocking i wouldnt worry about changing them.they will let you know when its time.i got 219000 miles and still trukin.idles a little rough but no knocks.

Since new rod and main bearing are less that $75, why not replace them while you are there?
Personally, I'd rather do it now than tear it down again later.

If you got the pan off already............ Replace the rod and main bearings. The engine should be good for another 200,000 miles then. Also, just use a regular pump, a high volume pump is totally unessessary.
