Fix for a explorer sports mono spring

Fix for a explorer sports mono spring

Pull the springs on the X take the centering pin out don’t cut it you will need it later. Get a set of ranger leaf springs, pull them a part and trash the main spring. I used springs out of my 85 ranger. Now put the centering pin back in the mono spring and add the 3 leaf springs from the ranger to the mono and 2 of the blocks that were on the mono earlier to the bottom of the spring and reinstall. This will add 2” to the back end and add around 800 pounds to the cargo capability.

Note, the ranger springs have a strap on it you will need to open it up. The only way the spring will work is to have the strap going to the front. Then put the leaf spring in a vise and close the strap on the springs. The mono spring is 3” wide and the ranger spring is 2 ½ wide but it will work fine.

This fix is for mono spring that are STEEL!!!, not the composite mono springs check with a magnet.

Tools needed are, ½ drive sockets, torch, floor jack, jack stands, big hammer and 3 hours

My X has been done for 2 days now with no problems the X ride better now then it did.

Will try to post photos ASAP.
