oil gasket question

oil gasket question

to many threads to post so i picked this one. i have a 94' f150. the oil pan gasket is leaking. i was wondering how hard and how much this may be to fix. any suggestions would help.

try tightening the bolts first, may just be a little loose,bob

It's not too bad, the pan drops down enough without having to remove any mounts like the manual says to do. Use a one piece gasket and you can snake it in there.

dont try to put the 4 eice gasket in without dropping it all the way off.to get it all the way you have to take the motor mounts looseand either thewiper motor or egr valve to get it up hi enuff.i still had to pry one corner down about 3/4 "to get it out!87 f 150 4x4 4-speed granny low

i tried dropping the pan off a 83 F-250 2wd, and it just wouldn't do it without lifting the engine or dropping the transmission...back of pan would only drop to about 2" above bottom edge of tranny, so i said heck with it and just kept dumping oil in as needed....i never did get around to changing that gasket before i sold the truck...oh well gone now for over a year

I do it in about 2 hours with jacking the engine up off the motor mount and putting wood blocks in between the mount and engine.

i got the fel pro gasket, lower the pan it should leave enough room to swap the old one out and carefully slide the new one in, so far with 10,xxx, hasnt leaked a drop.

itried the blocks still had to remove egr valve.those 300 sixes have pan thats a country- mile long.
