hey bill i have what sounds like the exact same problem. I went to the store and when I came back out my 2000 EB exp would not start. It sounds like it is not getting fuel as it tries to start to no avail. After waiting 30 minutes I had it towed and when I got to the destination it started right up. Since then (about 6 weeks) I have taken the truck to Ford and the replaced the fuel filter and a did some tune up related stuff and they said they couldnt get the problem to show up.

Two days later the problem happened again but after waiting about a half an hour we got it started. It seems to happen when the tank is lower on fuel. I took it back in to Ford and they couldn't find anything wrong and they told me that they would need to throw parts at it (at my expense) and I told them no. I am going to do the best I can at influencing them to throw the parts at it at their expense as I only have 44K miles on it.

I still have the problem, so if you could please keep me informed on how you are doing with your problem as I am stumped with mine, and I will let you know if I get my problem fixed.

i would suspect bad fuel injector(s). if injectors are bad, when engine is turned off, fuel leaks into cylinder and floods the engine. fuel drains away after the engine sits and the engine starts. you may want to do a search--worth a shot.

The truck didn't start a 3rd time so i took it to the dealer.

It started for them, but in the afternoon it failed to start for the dealer.

The said its a bad fuel pump...I quess fuel pumps die a slow death.

I should get the car back today!!!

Okay.. If for some reason it doesn't solve the problem, please keep me posted.

Maybe I will finally have peace of mind!

Thanks,
Rick

Hey Bill I am taking my car in this week to get the fuel pump replaced but before I go through with it, I want to make sure that it solved your problem and would it have showed itself already again.

Thanks again for your help.

Rick
