THe easiest is to swap your points with a petronix ignitor along with a petronix blater coil, 8mm wires and new plugs gapped to about 40 - 45. It'll run you around 160.00

I have a '73 model F-100 that had points. I went to car quest and bought an electronic distributor. I went to the bone yard and bought an electronic distributor harness and the ignition module for a '75 model. I went to auto zone and bought plugs and wires. I think the total cost was around $110 to 125. Don't remember exactly it's been a couple of years. I eventualy upgraded to msd ignition module and coil, but the regular factory stuff was a good upgrade by it self. It took about 30 minutes to switch the distributor and rewire it. Let me know if you need any more information.

I'm restoring a '69 F-100. I put a Pertronix Ignitor and an Accel Supercoil on mine. Haven't gone to any high speed plug wires yet but the ignition combined with the coil is amazing. Don't forget the Balast resistor if you go with a supercoil.

All of the already mentioned stuff should work well... another option (as if you really needed one) is a DUI dizzy... this is my plan in the next coupla weeks, when I get my tax refund. There was a thread on that here earlier.

I would recomend a good CD (Capacitive Discharge) system. MSD, ACCEL, JACOBS. just remember to mount any IGN system module away from heat and vibration. I am running duraspark for now but will be up gradeing to an MSD soon. don't forget the 8 mm wires. good luck.

Generally speaking, you won't find any or little of a performance gain on these engines stock if your points ignition is in peak working condition. That said, my preference is for the DUI. Which I think everybody knows by now
