Ain't gonna believe this E4OD "fix"
8 months now, intermittant neck-breaking shifts, no throttle response, gear slamming,,,,, some of the problems that there are probably 500 threads on in this forum, and I read them all.
New Speed Sensor, tranny range sensor, throttle pos. sensor, flush-fill-flush-fill, Code Readers galore, TWO (2) FORD garages, ONE hometown mechanic, about 400$ later and tons of frustration. Literally days from dropping 2200$$ for a new FORD warrantied tranny.
I called one more tranny shop, and I'm told, "Check the Battery/Battery Connection, that truck of yours is real sensitive to low voltage, especially the electronics of the tranny control". Well why not I thought, but I knew the connections looked good, and battery was fairly new.
I stripped the heat shrink off (on the + ring terminal), and it was about nothing but dust--completely corroded. I couldn't believe it.
Boy did I feel stupid - but stupid and happy! Truck runs great. I feel like I just won 2200$ at the lottery.
I only hope this chunk of advice helps someone else!!
POOR BATTERY CONNECTION
It is good that you posted it since for some of the guys it will work and for the rest of us, it is a reminder to check the simple stuff.
So, are you gonna spend the lotto money on some toys ? ;^)
