Super easy fluid change for 5 speed.

I've seen this mentioned in the 4.2 forum several times so I thought I'd post a link and anchor the thread at the top for a while so guys get a chance to see it.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=204530

It worked well and was VERY easy. Hope it helps!

Joseph, I don't know whether to thank you or feel insulted.
On second thought, I think you are a few fries short of a Happy Meal!

Nah, you did a great job on the how-to. Very nice!

Drizzt: Yes, you can fill it through your shifter.

Filling through the shifter hmm!

Well I guess it is possible, I like Brian's idea, better, I cant believe all the time I wasted squirting fluid from a 60cc syringe. Thanks man, that is great.

Ohh I have a FM146 in by Bronco II and I drained about a pint out of the shift lever going up a hill in the Badlands once. it covered my drive shaft and diff. That was the steepest hill I have ever climbed, the Toy I was with just droped his jaw, but he made it up too. These are awsome little 4x4's.

Thanks again.

Sometimes things are so simple, they can be right in front of your face and you can't see them.

For instance, I finally found, after exhaustive research, that I can fill my rear differential through the dome light.

Funny thing is that it appears not to work all the time. Only after I've drank about 6 or 7 beers, but it works great after that, I just did it last week.

p.s. I've been getting this really bad klunking noise from my rear along with the smell of molting hot liquid magma, anyone have any ideas as to what this can be?

Tom
