if your trying to repalce the fuel filter dont resort to a screw driver and hammer. I tried and went threw it and you cant buy a new canister you have to buy a new fuel pump no big deal but its a pain in the butt. Mine was rusted on and i couldnt get it off anyother way. its probably the orginal filter had a massive buidlup of sludge.

I just replaced the one on my '67. It looked pretty original, but it came right off. Might be the fact it was a southern vehicle for most of it's life.
The only problem was...it was hard to get screwed back on straight. It tended to kinda want to cross-thread itself once you got it ALMOST tight. It took a couple tries, but it went on okay and been fine for a couple months now.
mine was stuck like chuck th first time i changed it but took a one lb hammer and tapped around the top of the cannister and she spun right off same thing works for stuck oil filters (learned that one under many hmmwv's)
