My floor jack is a Sears 2.5 ton and is as big and heavy as any other as I have seen. It was around $100 Dollars. It takes quite a few strokes to lift to max heighth but have lifted the front of my V-10 SD efortlesslee.(sp)?

I have grown to hate Sears tools.
I have no use for thier waranty dept.

I recenty took back a broken 1/2 inch drive ratchet and instead of replacing it they gave me a rebuild kit. I did not buy a broken wrench with a rebuild kit. I bought a new wrench!!

Sears has lost Me, a once loyal cusomer.

Most of the tools in my shop are Craftsman, My roll a way is Craftsman. My old air compressor is a sears. The problem I have had is when I needed a warantee service they do not want to honor it these days. A gaurnatee is only as good as the service to back it up.

The floor jack hasn't caused me any problems and has worked as good as I have needed it to. But I fear If it even needs a seal replaced I will end up trashing it and buying a nother brand.
That could be 10 years from now and hopefully by then they willl change their way of doing business.

My uncle kept buying some cheap floor jack from sams club. They were all 3 ton jacks. And they would always give out. The last one I hardley used it cause I didn't trust it. I stuck to the 20 ton bottle jack, kinda of a pain but I trusted it not to give out.

This last november I got me a heavy duty commercial 5 ton floor jack. For the extra $$$ spent I'm not worried about it sagging while jacking it up. Yes I do use jack stands 5ton stands. And when I use the cheap stands I use more than 2.

Oh and the best part about the floor jack I got is, it is so big that it doesn't grow legs when the brother in law comes over.

I bought the Craftsman 3 1/2 ton "commercial grade " floor jack two years ago for 140.00. I thought it would last forever like my other craftsman stuff. Last week I was had my truck in the air checking the ball joints, the seal blew in the cylinder and wham the truck came right down. I didn't have any jacks stands underneath cause I was just checking the ball joints. So much for my faith in craftsman. I went to order the seal kit from sears to rebuilt it and quess what they don't make one. They said I have to buy the whole unit, 100.00. You guys have any ideas on who could rebuilt? Maybe a hydrulic shop?

Try looking in the yellow pages under hydrolics. Shops that service cylinders and such should be able to help you.

Check this out!!

If you own a CRAFTSMAN floor jack and you are under the assumption its made in the USA, guess again, I went to my local Sears yesterday and checked: ALL floor jacks sold by SEARS are made in CHINA.

YES, but I feel a lot better paying $60 for the one I have versus $120+ @ Sears for the same size.

A local tire shop bought 4 of those Michelin Jacks. All they do are tires day in and day out. They are still holding up. I saw the jacks at sams and passed it up since I figgured they were junk. After seeing the abuse those get put through I bought one and am very happy.
