that annoying seat belt thing

after mentioning that i was going to disable the seat belt alert i caught all kinds of hell from family and friends.. ha.
anyway, did you guys know that you can disable the buzzer for the "session" of driving you will be doing just by pushing the red button on the seat belt latch? you have to do it every time you start the engine, but it is like second nature now that i have done ot for a couple days.
just thought i would share..

I didn't know about it until monsta posted it back on Feb 15th.
Like you , I am reluctant to disarm because I am a survivor of a crash where a lap belt saved me.

Yeah it is nice to shut that thing up. I for the most part where mine but if I am just moving vehicles or doing something like that it is nice to be able to shut it off.

I agree, try trailering a boat... and as things get tense while you crawl up the ramp ( the boat and trailer top in at about 14k lbs ), kids running by, wife talking in your ear on the headset, concentration focused on your rear view... then you get "DING DING DING DING DING DING DING...

Unnerving, it had to go.

Just do the permanent disable. Put the belt in to the receiver eight or nine times with a second in between. After that the seat belt indicator light in the dash will blink three times. After that engage and disengage the belt one more time and that's it for good.

I named my seat buzzer after my wife! It just never shuts up! She knows I love her and the kids thinks its funny when I call it her name. They know it's true.

The full procedure list as originally posted from beerstalker:

BeltMinder
One time disable
Any time the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an ignition ON cycle, the BeltMinder_ will be disabled for that ignition cycle only.

Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder_ feature
Read Steps 1 - 5 thoroughly before proceeding with the deactivation/activation programming procedure.
The BeltMinder_ feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that the following conditions are met:
• The parking brake is set
• The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral position (manual transmission)
• The ignition switch is in the OFF position
• All vehicle doors are closed
• The driver’s safety belt is unbuckled
• The parklamps/headlamps are in the OFF position (If the vehicle is equipped with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure)
While the design allows you to deactivate your BeltMinder_, this system is designed to improve your chances of being safely belted and surviving an accident. We recommend you leave the BeltMinder_ system activated for yourself and others who may use the vehicle. To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the BeltMinder_ feature while driving the vehicle.

BeltMinder_ activation and deactivation procedure
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1 minute)
• Step 3 must be completed within 60 seconds after the safety belt warning light turns off.
3. At a moderate speed, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times, ending with the safety belt in the unbuckled state.
• After Step 3 is complete, the safety belt warning light will be turned on for 3 seconds.
• If Step 4 does not occur within 10 seconds at the end of Step 3, BeltMinder_ will automatically exit programming mode without changing its enable status.
4. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, at a moderate speed, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
• This will disable the BeltMinder_ feature if it is currently enabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
• This will enable the BeltMinder_ feature if it is currently disabled. As confirmation, the safety belt warning light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the light off, then followed by the safety belt warning light flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds again.
5. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.

What all vehicles does this work on? We have a few trucks over here I would like to do that to, but didn't know we could do that.

The steps should be in the owner's guides for each of the vehicles. Some vehicles have slightly different steps. If you don't have the owner's guides you can download them for free at www.motorcraftservice.com
