Has anyone ever put a 6.2l diesel in a f150? My curiosity has gotten the best of me, and I may be able to get my hands on one. Not to say I for sure want to do it, but I want to know what would be involved in swapping one in. If I was to do it sometime along the way, I would do a turbo conversion too. I apologize if I offended any Ford diehards, but I am brand loyal only to American Made vehicles.
It would be a lot of work. Besides the job of physically bolting the engine in, you'd have to convert the whole fuel system from gas to diesel. Anything is possible with enough effort and money, but I don't think it would be worth it. Besides, those things are pretty gutless IMO.
Man think... theres a reason your getting it for free. The other thing would be, does the ttb dana 44 have enough waight rating for that motor? Diesels are heavy, theres a reason you get them in 3/4 tons. Sure passats have them but they're like 2 liters. Then how are you going to mount the tranny to the motor? I'll put money on it that theres no adapter for anything even close to that. If your trucks a manual would you trust a M50D behind a diesel? So say you get a chev tranny too that linkage is gonna be a nightmare!
Hey I never said I for sure wanted too, just curious. I know that it would be alot of work. The stock 6.2 engine is rated at 140hp and 260ft/lbs, but with a turbo can crank out 205hp and 375ft/lbs of torque- better than my 302.
