Have a F-150 w/ 351 and E4OD Tranny. When I accelerate up hill in OD without mashing the gas(i.e. Expecting to hit second) it starts to sputter the engine. The 351 is strong so the problem isn't there, but E4OD is notorious from what I have read. I have an idea it's one of a few problems. Please help me onto the right track.
Torque Converter
TV cable
Band Adjustment(if so please advise as to the who what where and how to on E4OD
I just bought the vehicle w/ 147k miles havn't done routine mait. yet, but figured while I was under it I could tinker with problem.
Sounds like a torque-converter clutch slipping. Change the fluid and filter and add a friction modifier designed to solve this problem (a tranny shop would carry that), but if that doesn't solve it, you may need a new converter or transmission.
