Gorilla, the actual lift that is on the front of my X is the V code front springs. And a full 3" mini leaf pack under the v code springs. The total lift is a little bit lower because of the v code springs sagging over the past couple years.

The only trimming was to the inside of the wheelwells towards the back. I have heard that many people have heated the wheelwells up and used plastic wireties to hold them back while they cool. I just cut mine about 5" higher from the bottom. The other trimming I did was to the lower front valance. That I just had to knock off about an inch. Never even touched the bumper.

The wheels are Pro-Comp steel 16.5 X 10. backspacing measured about 4 1/4". I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT OFFROAD. But now there is no rub at all on the leaf springs. Thats because of the offset. I had a set of 325/50/22 tires with a 5" backspace and they rubbed pretty bad with a almost full turn of the steering wheel.

I got one set of wheels and tires and paid $500. The second set, I got 5 tires with 17/32" tread and 4 wheels, 4 brand new center caps and a set of spline drive lugnuts. I swapped for my stock wheels and worn out tires. So basically, 2 sets for $500.

I have no doubt that if I was going offroad, it would be kinda bad because just street driving, it's pretty darn close when the wheels are turned. The back wheels are no problem with space.

Thanks for all the great information racerx7775! Especially the details on your lift and trimming.
What sort of lift did you do in the rear? Mine looks like it has shackles in the front and blocks in the rear. I'm disappointed to see it only has about 4" of contain travel. I guess I expected more than a stock suburban.

After much research, I decided to get some Treadwright Guard Dogs with Kedge grip.

I decided that the extra $250/set was worth it for great rain, snow and ice traction here in Seattle. if I end up changing or increasing the lift, I'll probably get a set of 16.5 Wheels and the military tires for my summer towing.

Your truck looks really great by the way! The black wheels add a menacing quality.

Mine has stock rear springs. I had a custom set of lift blocks and traction bars made up. Check out Newton lifts on Ebay. Extremely heavy duty. Great price. No axle wrap with the new setup. Well worth it. Thanks for the compliment too.

Does anyone running these tires also run the HMMWV rims with runflat inserts? (or just the runflat inserts?)
I have a bunch of inserts and am seriously considering running them once I get another F350. It would sure be nice to be able to limp off the highway when I get a flat (especially when towing).

I wouldnt do it. They are so heavy and with the inserts it would make them almost impossible to balance. I had mine balanced at truck shop and watched the machine first spin it showed about 16 ounces. After we put the weights on we spun it again and it showed 0.00. After all wheels were complete I took it out for a spin. A bit over 50 was ok. Anything over that it wanted to shake the X apart. They are NOT a highway tire. I took them off since I do alot of high speed driving. Ive been running BFG 325/50/22's since. They are taller than the OZ'anyway.

Oh by the way I have 2 sets mounted and balanced in my basement. They will probably never see my X again. They both have about 17/32" tread and NO dryrot.

37x12.50R16.5LT M/T military oz, from humvee

These were just purchased military surplus. I thought 36 was the number until I started shopping. If it was, it isn't now. If you shop for surplus humvee or some of the trailers they tow you will find that the 37" tire is standard and military oz isn't sold to civilians from what I can see. What I found was you have to purchase the MILITARY OZ in a surplus manner. ..... so I did.

37x12.50R16.5LT M/T MILITARY OZ in front of 2004 Honda CRF 230.

'77 ford F250, 460 engine with 3\" body and 3" suspension lift and 44" tires. To many nods to list. Not intended for high speed, Lol. The 37" are a little better at high speed, had it up to 140mph on the 44's, was smooth as butter, only once-in-a-lifetime. I was younger then.....Oh yah, you shouldn't run the inserts since you're not on the battle field going SLOW avoiding enemy fire. They were fine and balance-able without inserts for my rig.

You shouldn't get a flat with these. I have never carried a spare and never had a flat. A friend of mine ran them till they were almost bald and never had a flat. I am not saying it doesn't happen, but it's slim.
Also every military person whose driven a hummer with those tires and the inserts claim they make them untollerable over 60 MPH, the inserts were designed for combat, not highway use. I know a lot of these posts are old but I thought I would keep the thread going since I run these on my big truck for fun.

Unhappy Afghanistan Super Swampers.

The first time I was working in Afghanistan it was at the Bagram air base and I saw a humvee with 37 inch Swampers on it so I asked the people driving it where they got them. Come to find out the military ordered a bunch of them and didnt like them so they were giving them away to other contractors. But then the ones they couldn't get rid of they were THROWING AWAY!! Stacks of brand new Super Swampers going to the dump.
