lower intake tourqe

Hello. was wondering if anyone outthere had the torque for the lower Intake bolts on a 97 4.2L AND what side of the engine is the right? looking from behind engine or infront.. my gaskets only fit left and right when you are behind engine.. (as in sitting in drivers seat) this is the right way isnt it???
thanks.. Andrew

Racer,go to Ajs website and look up the spec sheets on the TSB gaskets. There you will see the new torque specs.

Step 1-44 in. lbs.
Step 2-71-102 in. lbs.

My Ford service manual is for 97-99 4.2V6s. The copyrite date is 2/00 I hope this helps.

Racer, just to be safe call Ford anyway and make sure those specs are correct. I'm not sure when they updated the gasket torque specs. BTW,i'm watching the game as I type.

hey blue.. never called yet... top end was all put together(within a hour of talking to you... starting on the front cover here shortly.. I bought a haynes manual today... 89inch pound was final in it..i went to 100..I doubt 1 foot pound would make too much of a diff.. but when i go to order the cover gasket i will double check.. to late now so not a big worry if it is wrong..

In my manual they show the torque spec for the timing cover bolts; 15-22 ft. lbs.
Let me know if these torque specs are correct after you call Ford. If they are not,I need to update my manual.
