Motorcraft boosters
I want to improve my mileage and I have been studying carburetors lately. I am running an AFB on a 351C. I did have a 600 Holley #1850 on it but was never happy with the (lack of) idle quality. There doesn't seem to be much difference in mileage though.
At any rate, it looks like the Motorcraft carbs have a much better booster venturi than the Holley or the Carter. It appears to be an annular discharge booster like the one that Holley only puts on their higher performance models. It seems like the Motorcraft would atomize the fuel better and should have the potential to give better mileage than the Holley or Carter.
It doesn't seem to work that way in the real world. Maybe that is because of all the smog stuff that usually comes with the Motorcraft.
Anybody know how effective the Motorcraft booster is compared to the stock Holley booster for fuel atomization?
