Got the passenger side ready to weld. They are all tacked up. I'll start on the driver's side tomorrow, and with any luck they will be done in the next 10 days or so. Check em out in my gallery.

The pic of a black collector under a truck next to a black frame turned out, well, black. I'll shine some light under there and shoot another pic from a different angle.

OK. I posted a couple more pics in the gallery that show the collector positioning better.

Looks great Scouder.

I assume you have plenty of tire clearance, and no concerns about roasting rubber....well not counting the roasting occuring naturally from having 1000 Hp in a pickup truck :-)

Hey Brian, Is that your first time welding headers?? If it is I can't tell. That's two things you have done by the seat of your pants now and they turned out great!

Yeah. I've never done anything like these headers before. That's why I posted before that I was dreading it. But it turned out to be pretty easy. Just time consuming really.

The tires are the only issue. I will have to extend the stop bolts just a little bit. I'm guessing I'll lose about 2 degrees of turning radius each way.

They look excellent! Very impressed! That is one big collector...but I do have a question or two.

With the headers/collector running on the outside of the frame...Where are you planning to run the pipe? Down the frame too? Where will they finally exit?

Super Job!

Looks great!!
A question that I have, and you've probably already taken into consideration is: Are you going to have clearance during any rock crawling?
I saw the part where you stated about turning out the stops, but is that going to help when flexing the suspension?
Just curious.

I plan on having the exhaust exit just in front of the rear tires. The mufflers will be under the cab, outside the frame, and the exahust will continue back and then just turn out somewhere in front of the rear wheelwell. One of the things I wanted to accomplish was to have the entire exhaust system, including the headers, be a straight as possible.

The clearance between the headers and the front tires won't be muh of a concern. I will have the suspension travel accounted for when I set the stop bolts. If you can believe it, the tires will turn nearly all the way without hitting the headers as long as it's sitting level. I think that is due to the extra width of the D60 front axle. It's only when the tires are turned to the stops, and the suspension is compressed that I have clearance issues.

The height of the headers is great. The lowest point on these is still higher than they would have been if I went inside the frame. I would have been forced to go under the bellhousing crossmember. This way they go no lower than the "belly" of the main frame rails.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
