Radius arm bushings

Anybody out there change the radius arm bushings on an F150. I have an 84 that the bushings are junk on and I am wondering how much work it is to replace them.

There has been much discussion on this here. Do a search on the bushings and include radius arm(s) in different aspects to see all the info.

Get ready with pad and pen or simply cut and paste to narrow your opinions - they are many!!

Good luck and let us know your plan of attack!

to get mine out i hooked a comealong to the front axle and then to a tree and pulled the axle foward so i could remove the bushings. the axle should move enough to remove the bushings and the washers

Most of the people cut out the rivets and replace them with bolts on the radius arm mount and then change it by pulling the bracket off of the radius arm. Make sure you have the radius arm properly secure before you take off all the bolts. It would probably be a good time to get 2 new brackets from ford and replace the old one, since they are known to crack, especially if you use poly bushings.
