I've got a Mercury 312 y-block and am looking to dress up the motor. Does anybody know if 1954-55 Lincoln 317 cu in valve covers will fit my Mercury 312? Visually they look the same, but I don't have the 317's in hand.
Thanks for your quick response. I had a feeling they wouldn't fit. I might still see who much work it will be to graft the 317 covers to the base of my 312 covers. Would definately be nice trick to keep people guessing at shows/meets.
Thanks. I thought of putting MKII covers on, but since they are cast aluminum I think it would be next to impossible to modify them. At least with the standard lincoln covers I can fill the welds in with brass and paint/plate them.
I spoke to a guy in Kansas today who makes custom billet valve covers from a solid block of aluminum. I'm going to have him make me a custom set for my 368 Lincoln engine. He'll make them anyway you want them with any style roof you want . Engraving is also available any style or level you could ever want. Hey Carl do you have a photo of a Mrk II valve cover.
Carl, I'm not sure what your needing, but sounds like something I could mill out of a solid block of Aluminum. I got the supplies I needed Friday to work on intake prototype project. It got down to -15 degrees here in Indiana last night. I thought of you. Tom
