truck pullin a super duty

hey fellas, i just need some input. i want to pull my superduty at a truck pull this fri night. the problem is that my dad is all worked up bout it. he thinks that im gonna tear it up and be out of a truck cause i wont have the cash to fix it. but i keep tellin him that it is under warranty fer one thing. second of all i seriously doubt that i will break it. i mean my drive train is as stout as my uncles pullin truck and he is pushin 750 hp! anyhow, this is my truck cause i am payin for it but, my dad is the cosigner. so my problem is.....should i pull it anyhow or out of respect fer pop not pull it?

I would like to know what exactly you pull at a truck pull.

How much weight is it usually? (I know it must vary)

Do other guys take their brand-new, stock Super Dutys to these pulls?

How confident are you that your dealer will cover something that you twist and break while at the truck pull?

How much money could you win?

Will their be chicks?

Will they be good looking?

If not, will there be beer? (I hear that it can make a big improvement on a female's "appearance"...)

>I would like to know what exactly you pull at a truck pull.

you hook up to a sled that has a weight rack on it. the further you go down the track the further up onto the sled the weight comes thus making it harder to pull and eventually stopping. the object is to see who can get the sled down the track the furthest. there are several different truck and tractor classes that do this.

i think that its round 80,000 when all of the weight is on the sled.

I've gotta go with the fellas on this one...if Dad didn't have his name on the paperwork anywhere, that'd be one thing, but he does. Granted, it's your money, but his name's on the line too. You MIGHT go and pull and come back without a problem, but you also MIGHT tear something to pieces. Yeah, these are stout trucks, but 80,000lbs??? Good grief!! I'm still young enough to understand how bad you'd like to get involved. But think of it this way...while the other guys are out there hookin' up and running the crap out of their trucks, they're NOT sitting with all those girls!

Now, if you could convince your Dad, then it would be cool. But I don't think your relationship with your Dad is worth the risk.

On another note, YIKES!!! I sound just like my father. When did this happen??

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Jun-02 AT 10:56 AM (EST)]Don't listen to these old men, they're probably fathers themselves. You only live once. And so what if it breaks, how in hell will the dealership know your broke it in a tractor pull unless you tell them. I'm with Yeti.

>Don't listen to these old men, they're probably fathers

Now that's the right attitude! The hell with the Old Man! So what if he co-signed for the truck and he's worried you'll brake it and can't afford to fix it.

>how in hell will the dealership know your broke it in a

Gee! Ya don't think if something breaks while pulling a weight sled that it won't look like abuse?

And even if the dealership does'nt pay... The Old Man will take care of it. After all he co-signed on the truck and he knows ya can't afford to fix it! Right?

If ya got your own money to pay when ya play then go ahead. If not the only thing the Old Man should give ya is the good advise he already gave ya and this

Been in your shoes not too many years back. Your dad is, like mine was, worrying about nothing. If you take it to the pulls the worst you will likely do is break a u-joint. That being said, even though your dad sounds like a hypochondriac (kinda like mine), he is your dad and, in my opinion you have to give him a little respect for that. In my irresponsible past I did some things against my parents' wishes that I probably should not have and if I had it to do over again hopefully I wouldn't. What you really need to do is get to the point where you don't need co-signers etc.. I got to that point about 3 years ago and I no longer feel the slightest bit of guilt when I do childish things like take my shiny new truck to the truck pulls. In fact I derive probably too much pleasure from the reaction I get out of my parents/grandparents when I do such childish things. Keep working hard and soon enough you will be in a position where you can leave the prudish ways of your elders behind and then my friend is when life begins!

Since your father cosigned for this truck you should take care of it out of respect and appreciation for the help he gave you in purchasing this truck.Don't pull it!When it's paid for and you don't need any help from in order to own it,then beat the hell out of it if you choose.Just remember...If you want to play you've got to pay.

You might ask yourself if you would ever purchase a truck that had been used in this fashion. Personally, if I were looking to buy a used truck, I would politely walk away from any truck that had been (ab)used like this.
