This was a problem on pre 2003 heads.
Welcome aboard !!
I understand this was a design defect on the 5.4L heads on pre 2003 vehicles. Ford fixed this in 2003 by putting in a longer thread for theplug I think. Lot's of people apparently had this problem from what I hear.
I would check with your local Ford dealer to see if there was a recall or TSB issued on this. Most likely you will get the standard response from the service department. It will go something like this: "Oh really .... I have never heard that one before. You are the first one that has had that problem" ....lol
Trust me, they will likely do the song and dance around that one. It probably entales putting on a new set of heads from a 2003 and above in order to fix the problem. Lots of coins.
Read thru some of the forums or search for "spark plug" and you should find the problem reported in there somewhere.
Good luck with your dealer... mine is brain dead .... lol
Cheers,

Funny u said that because thats exactly what the dealer said when i called and told them about my situation. New motor now so im going to be careful when it comes time to change the plugs. I appreciate the info and hope most ford truck owners haven't had to deal with the problems i have been threw with it.

It matches the Road King Classic in the Garage!
Never was much for advertising for Harley in anyway other than riding my RK but when I saw my truck I knew it was mine!
