I have a 1987 F-250, 6.9L diesel, C-6 auto, BW1356. I am having problems with the t-case, and they are plentiful in the junkyards. Will any BW1356 fit, or do I need a specific one? I know I have to stick with the manual shift. Did they come with different spline counts on the input or output shafts? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I think there is a slip in rear driveshaft and a bolt on rear driveshaft type for different wheelbase lenghts (Bronco on up). The difference would be obvious.
Yep, the Broncos have a bolt-on rear driveshaft, while most of the trucks have a slip-in rear driveshaft. I checked my Bronco tonight and confirmed this. If that's the only thing to look for, then I shouldn't have much of a problem.
