Question Will a K&N Freeze?

I am trying to advise my uncle as to what he can do to improve his performance. He drives a 97 Ranger 4.0 4wd. I want to recommend a K&N air filter for starters, but it occured to me that it may be problematic. I'm not sure thats why Im asking. He lives in Alaska and he has weather that dips into -40 degrees pretty yearly. I am wondering if the oil coating on the filter could "freeze" or become to stiff to function properly in that weather. I was also curious if anyone else lives in really cold temperatures and what they recommend in the way of Mods.

Thanks

Not likely... As oil really cannot freeze, unless liquid nitrogen is introduced.

We just crawled out of two weeks strait in Anchorage without getting above 0 deg. About a week of that didn't get above -15 deg at my house, but I didn't have any trouble with my K&N.
