Another Mirror Question

I have done a search and don't see an answer to my q's so here goes. I broke my first mirror last night, popped the plate the glass mounts to out and shattered the glass. Ford said if all the little parts were still there the glass can be replaced for $35 and if the parts are gone the whole thing has to be replaced. I did notice one of the two little black posts mounted via ball ends is gone, will it still work with one??

Also the two white pinch inserts that go to the electrical units are threaded. Does this thread cause the mirror to move as it spins in and out and if so how do you reinstall it so it moves normally again??

If I have to replace it does Ford make a trailer tow mirror that pushes in and out? I have a '99 and mine are fixed, they manually fold but are the same length all the time.
Thanks!

I go to a glass company and have one cut that matches and then glue it on the other. I guess that's what happened to yours, if not well cost is the owner now.

I did the same thing. My posts are missing so I have to buy a whole new mirror.
It would seem logical that you can update your mirrors and make them telescope. If you find a good price, less than 120 a piece, please let me know. Thanks and good luck.
