I have a 1995 F150 regular cab pick up. My question is when I open my driver's door it opens maybe 1/4 of the way, then drops about 1-2 inches and opens the rest. Closing I have to open the window, and lift up then pull closed, any ideas how to fix?
Closely inspect the hinge action while someone opens the door slowly. You will see the hinge drop, most of the time its the pin worn, sometimes it wears a oval hole in the hinge, either will cause the door to drop. I replaced my 79's hinges, easier than doing the pin thing. p.s you will need to look at the strike pin also where the door latches on to, for adjustment also, if you change hinges, good luck
Same thing happened on my wife's 94 GMC JIMMY. The door would drop a couple inches when opened. It turned out the top hinge pin had worked its way out of one of the holes in the hinge.
Had to pound it back in then center punch the end so it wouldn't slide out again. Seems to still be working.
