I own a 2002 Class A motorhome built on the Ford F53(Triton V10 415CID
310HP) chassis. Does this chassis have a fuel pump in the gas tank?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Jul-02 AT 09:59 PM (EST)]TLC,
Welcome to FTE!
If the motorhome manufacturer didn't replace the tank to a bigger tank,I
would say yes it does have the fuel pump in the tank.
Or what they do sometimes is mount an external electric fuel pump and filter along the frame rails on the inside back by the tank.

Sorry about not being more positive in answering your ?
Why do you ask this ? Do you have fuel feed problems or vapor lock ???
In real hot weather this can happen

My reasons for asking are:

1) I owned a 1994 Class A motorhome(460) with the fuel pump in the gas tank.

2) A friend has a 1990 Class C motorhome(460) with the fuel pump in the gas tank. So far; he has had the fuel pump replaced 3 times. The last time was 2 weeks ago.

I'm wondering if I may have similar problems in the future with my 2002.

The best way to avoid having a fuel pump go bad is to keep the tank at least 1/4 full. They tend to go bad quick when they suck air. And the fuel around the pump keeps them cooler.
