Hi compression pistons 400 ci??
#16
Those are the exact pistons I just won a couple days ago for $49 on e-bay. I looked at the picture real close and compared it to another advertising some oversize pistons and it's the exact same photo. I am beginning to hope that maybe I got real lucky and that was a "stock photo" that they reuse.
"One bid = 8 pistons. This is the set to replace Ford 400 O.E. pistons from 1971-72, and is a higher compression piston for all 400 Fords from 1971-79 car and truck."
I will let y'all know in a few days when they get here if they are dished (OK by me) or indeed, the flat top ones (better by me!).
Later ..................

Badger makes a OEM replacement pistion for the 1971 400ci motor which used a flat top pistion. BADGER # 40010F-030 (.030 over sized). I just got my machince shop guy to order me up a set. Going to built me a mean 400 with 9.5-1 compression, Weiand intake, Edelbrock 750cfm carb, Comp cam, lifters, valve springs, and timing set, Accel ignition, and under drive pulleys. Motor should be done here some time next week. Going on a 78 F-100 short box custom.

reference my previous post above ....
They came to day, they are dished a little but only 1/16". They are Zollner # Z3436, for a 400 Ford, Std. Manufactiured Oct. '02.
I am pleased non the less, it just means I'll be able to contiunue feeding her regular. A fresh 8.4:1 (maybe 8.5 after a head resurface) 400 should have more grunt than the current 8.1:1 351m.
They are the same as Silvolite 1160 it says on the box end, but the Silvolite website calls for a 1/8" dish, these do not have a 1/8" dish. I just looked at the photos that were posted on the auction above, and the dishes are definately deeper in the photo. I measured the 1/16" with a straight edge across the top of the highest portion to the floor of the "dish". I'll try to post a photo later.
I am very pleased.

The only thing that concerns me is that after reading the description on eBay they say that they are 'stock compression height, 1.630"' Stock compression height for the 400 is 1.650 which means that these pistons are "destroked" .020" which is not uncommon for rebuilder type pistons. Unless the block is decked .020" these pistons are going to sit another .020" down in the head lowering the C.R. even further.

OK, forget the photo. I didn't mean to lock up the board.
These Zollner pistons aren't the same as in the ebay link photo, I suspect that was a photo of either a Badger piston or the Silvolite #1160 which specs the 1/8 " dish and 1.630 CH, Tom Monroe's book shows a 1.650 CH in the chart, but he specifys 1.647 in the text portion describing piston differences. These Zollner #z3436 pistons measure out at 1.6437.
I am still pleased .......... and I promise not to try posting any more photo links, I'll just consider that "imag" think as cosmetic.

OK, I'll do it this way. here's a link to a photo of the Zollner piston in case anyone is interested ...
... or not.
(I'm still learning how to do things on this board, so this is like "practical practice".)

That carb is a mite big but it will give you a couple of extra ponies on the high end. You might want to skip that couple of ponies for an exra mpg the rest of the time tho...
Rebuilder pistons are normally cut .020 shorter in order to compensate for the .010 taken off the deck and the .010 off the heads during normal machine shop machining operations.
You did figure out how to post a link
