Any one used this synthic oil? Wondering if it worth trying out? Any advise in this area would be great. Looking to go all synthetic and put in a by pass filter. Any recommendations.
I ran into a guy at the fuel station and he said that's all he uses witha K&N oil filter. Also said that he changes his filter every 5k and the oil every 15k. Truck was a 2000 with over 100k miles.
He was very happy with the Royal Purple...
Royal Purple has some of the best synthetics out there, one that NASCAR uses and well as one for Long Haulers (18 wheelers).
I have used it before but switched to the Amsoil. The RP came in 5 gallon jugs and the distributor was a ways from my house.
The synthetics do give extended change intervals 10,000 + miles, but I noticed the biggest difference in the cold weather starts here in Michigan. Engine started easier with alot less clamorring.
Here is somemore information. I believe for our trucks it uses a single bypass filter. I was told that I want the swivel mount. I do know this if you want one, no matter who you get it from, talk them into signing you up as a preferred customer. The Amsoil person will pay the $10 to sign you up, and when you order it you will get it at Wholesale and anything else you want at wholesale for the next six months. As soon as your order something like $50 worth the dealer will get his $10 back.
For my truck it is Retail about $240, wholesale would save quite a bit.
