4" tuff country lift kit

any one use the tuff country lift kits i was looking at the #24810 i think it has every thing i would need except for shocks, a pitman arm, radius arm bushings, axle pivot bushings and ball joints

heres what it comes with

Axle pivot bracket - front
Axle pivot bracket - rear
Radius arm bracket - driver side
Radius arm bracket - pass side
Sway bar drop bracket
Support bracket
Adjustable cam bolt
Adjustable cam washer
9/16" uni-torque nut
Add-a-leaf
Center pins - pair
U-bolt - 9/16" x 3 1/2" x 10 1/2" - round

There was a 4" Tough Country lift on my '95 F150 when I bought it. The axle pivot brackets are fairly small and don't give good support on the crossmember. It ended up causing a severe crack in the crossmember. Also, even with the adjustable bolts they use, I was not able to get the alignment even close to being right. New brackets from Superlift and a bunch of welding finally fixed my problems.

no tuff country

Just a heads up, you dont have to take my advice but i thought i would give it to you incase you would like it. If you are wanting to never take your rig off road or are wantign to replace the lift in a couple years then go with the tuff country lift. But if your into offroading and mudding ect and dont want to worry about your lift breaking i would recommend going with a superlift of skyjakcer. let me know if you would like any more info because i work in an offroad shop.

WHS Panthers

how much would a basic kit be for just the front lift i dont want rear springs because i can get them made at the spring shop cheap. I figured it was pretty cheasy when it came with everything and was still under $400

why 4" ? fo 6" The kit is around $500 but then you gotta buy all the goodies pitman arm, x-tended brake lines, shocks...yadda yadda. I am talking skyjacker here!

Mrwizard, was those brackets Tuff Country or Rough Country?

I dissagree with that. I put a 2.5" tuff-country lift on my '88 F-250 about 3 years ago, and it has proved to be extremly durable. I wheel quiet often and it has never given me a bit of trouble. Even after jumping my truck (yes, 3ft of air in a 6,000lb. truck) it only required minor adjustment to the camber adjusting cams. Now granted that the F-250 kit is a little simpler that the F-150 kit and I only went with a 2.5" I would still say that tough country makes a very good product.

You would need brake lines which is a good excuse to go with stainless steel and you would need bushings.

The only thing I would add to the Cepek is a Sky Manufacturing 78-97 for shackel flip kit for about $119 wich will give up to 4.5" lift. It is a bolt on. It goes on without the factory blocks and on Broncos the pinion angle is close to factory. And probably is in SWB. I haven't done one on a lwb but there is a way to deal with the angle.

The alternative would be an aal.

The kit comes with a rear block you could just use that and maybe later go with the Sky or new spring packs.

Since the Cepek comes with shocks, it isn't to far off the price range of the Tuff C. and paired with the Sky would be about as rugged as a TTB lift that can be done. The only thing that would make it better would be extended radius arms. Cepek are the beefiest I've seen, but I haven't seen the BDS. The only thing close is SkyJacker.
This strictly applies to Broncos and F150s.
