no cigerrette lighter

do most of the 73-79 trucks not have a cigerette lighter. cause mine doesnt and i was just wondering if it was anything speacial or not. plus i was thinking how a cowl induction hood would look on one of these trucks so if anybody has a picture of one that they would like to share i would greatly appreciate it.

Pop out the silver plug, and install a lighter socket. There's even power right behind it. Look for a wire with a three hole connector, that's the factory plug for the lighter harness.

edit: I just realized I have the light group, and am supposed to have a glove box light which plugs into that same harness. I don't know if all trucks will have that plug or not.

I filled that hole with a manual choke **** when I converted to a manual choke. I don't smoke and think cell phones belong on the side of the road though.

Not sure but I think that you can buy an aftermarket lighter at the help section of any auto parts store. If not, look in a wrecking yard. Shouldn't be too hard to put in. You could look under the dash for the correct wires to plug in to too.

The main harness already has a 90* elbow connector to the lighter.

The glove box light was included in the Convenience/Light group package & therefore an option.

If any of you are looking a quick and easy way to get this stuff, please contact me through the FTE e-mail system.

This should help as well.

The 14A009 wiring harness is the lighter plug/wire

You can see this by looking in the middle of the illustration and count the 3rd set of text up from the bottom.

Here is the only Cowl hood that I have seen for the 73-79 Trucks. http://www.up22.com/ranger.htm#FD-794

I would probably look pretty good on mine

Don't you know . . . cigarrettes will kill you! They are now referred to at '12 volt power receptacles'. I say with all the modern toys out there you can never have too many outlets. I'm going to install a few in my center console when I put it in.
