There are two rebuilt 368 short blocks somewhere in St. Louis. At least that is what the crankshaft numbers indicated, when I checked on the numbering. Strange deal, not sure, I can figure out how to get ahold of the old guy. Be a shame to cut one up, seeing as these are completely redone.

LIke I said, it was a strange deal. The old guy had 8 shortblocks, all rebuilt. Three were Ford, about 3 were mopar, and one ramlber, and some kind of strange flathead V8, which I still don't have any idea of what it is. Had to buy all of those to get a really good price. Decided to pass, as I didn't know what to do with the extra engines. Money to be made on the deal, but didn't want the hassle. I'm sure the 368's could be bought cheap, for what they are. I've been thinking on how to locate the guy again, just have not come up with anything, yet. The place is in a run down section of town, but I can't remmember how to get there, or the address. Bought some y-block stuff from him, and some manifolds. I will keep thinking on it. I would try hunting it down in person, but St. Louis is 120 miles from here. I think the guy was trying to get rid of the stuff, so he could retire. This was about a year or so ago. I can visualize the place in my mind, but can't remmember a street name. Kind of place, you don't want to be after dark. Bars on the windows, boarded up fronts, run down. You know the kind of place, where they check to see if you have a gun or knife on you, when you go in. If you don't, they give you one. I would be willing, to bet the engines are still there. This guy was a packrat, and never threw anything away. Had several buildings stored full of stuff. No telling what.

Well, that guy is like me, hahahaha, except for my area isn't dangerous but Houston has some majorly dangerous places, i probably would have bought all the stuff you mentioned and resold what i didn't want, the part about him being a pak rat ammused me, because i almost sold my house last year, to move over my the house where i grew up, but instead realized keeping it made better sense than wanting to follow my heart by moving where i grew up and keep my good house that was payed for, but i was wondering then when i was considering the sale, how i was going to get rid of all this stuff!!! I have stuff i don't even know i have, like tools or pinstriping kits. all kinds of stuff, if the civic club in my neighborhood knew about these four engines on my garage floor and the four Transmissions i have, all C4 and one 400 turbo pre 1977 automatic, i would probably get cited or fined, hehehehe.........Janet

I sold out all my NOS Ford parts a few years ago, a big mistake, as I virtually gave it all away. It took the guys hired hands 4 months to get it all. Making several trips each week. I had cheap storage, and lots of it. Got down in my back, and couldn't take it to the swap meets anymore. I was and still am a major packrat. Since I sold out, I've refilled one of the several buildings I had. Although now, it's mostly 64 to 66 Ford pickups. Very little NOS to be found around here, and I don't travel anymore. I used to work pipeline construction, and wherever I went, would hunt out the old dealers. Usually had to rent the bigest U-haul I could get when I left to go home. Now, I've accumulated pickups, and mostly used parts for those. As usual, I've gone a little overboard. I've got 4 trucks that need redoing, and 5 others for parts, and have junked several others. In fact, I'm settting here looking at a piece of junk, I picked up at my grandparents old place. An old handle, for lifting the top of a wood cooking stove. Not even a very good one, as it has been welded back together. I think, I have two cruisomatics, and two 3 speed standards, one t-10 four speed, and one early toploader Mustang four speed, I also have a 460, a 360, a 390 in the process of rebuilding, bunches of different heads, bellhousings, clutches, two big pickup loads of NOS tailpipes, fenders, hoods, will most likely keep on packing it home. Trying to buy a 390 on Ebay right now, that's nothing but a worn out motor. Got my eye on a Mercury 390 in a junkyard near here, that's been setting in the weather far to long, to be any good, and another on that's locked up. Tools are another thing I can't seem to stop buying. Got it bad, must have 8 sets of 3/8 drive sockets and ratchets, and just bought another set. Show me a set of nearly new, unused wrenches for cheap, and watch me reach for my hip.

Well, looks like I'm going to be the proud owner of 8 rebuilt engine blocks. I found the old guys phone number, and gave him a call. I've told him I want to buy the blocks, and he's agreeable. Actually, he really wanted to get rid of the things before. He can't sell the things and knows it. Be a few weeks, before I can get over there, and get the engines. I only wanted the Ford engines, of which there were 3, and the third one is a 239 y block, a real barn burner. Then theres the Studebakeer 6, Rambler 6, three moper unidentified v8's, and some kind of Ford flathead v8 industrial wierd engine, which is most likely worthless. As if, half the others aren't. If anyone is interested let me know.

Hi prostocktom

I have a running 317 engine that has the truck type flywheel, and bell housing along with the other heavy-duty truck only parts. Bob
