I know that different types of carbs take different styles of jets. My question is what size of jets should I be running in my 400? What are others running with their set ups. Thanx
I'm at 5800 feet. I just emission tested the 77 400 and with stock cam, stock exhaust, Edelbrock Performer and Holley R-1850 600 cfm carb, I am running 61s in the front and it looks like I could get by with 60s! The stock jets were 66s.
I flunked bigtime the first try, went across the street to a guy with an analyzer to set it up right. I thought my 61s were too small before the analyzer session. But with the idle screws set for best reading at idle, the 2500 rpm reading was up quite a bit, like double, showing that I could go down another size probably.
Funny, I thought I had the engine tuned pretty good (by ear) but when we got it into a building I was embarrassed by how bad it smelled!
After the analyzer session I passed easily.
