I've just put a new Holley Truck Avenger Carb on my 71' F100 with the 360 FE V8, I even had the thing proffesionally fine tuned, but now the thing has major bog at take off. I was wondering if this is somthing with the carberator or the motor. I have just replaced the plugs, wires, and distributor so its not the ignition. If anyone could help me that'd be great.
Thanks,
Curtis
Is this new to this carb or did it do it with the old carb also? I know dumb question but we need to know. Also, is this bog only when you really stand on it or does it do it no matter how soft or hard you accelerate?
It sounds like to me the accelerator pump may not be set up correctly. Make sure that at the same instant that the throttle comes off of idle that the pump starts to discharge. Adjust accordingly.
If it only bogs when you get on it hard and you have checked the linkage I would consider going to a smaller discharge nozzle. This will increase the duration of the shot and has been known to help.

Have you tried both carb vacuum and manifold vacuum?
well it bogs no matter how much gas i give it. The old carb did somthing similar but it might have just been needing a rebuild, it was kinda old. as for the carb and manifold vacuum, i havent tried that yet but it sounds like a good idea to try if your meaning that it might be my vacuum advance. Ive also checked the accelarator pump and changed the nozzle to a bigger one because holley tech support told me that might be the problem because it is common. It could be the accelartor pump adjustment, ill check it and get back to you guys.

I was thinking it wasn't getting enough advance quick enough, or too much too quick. Good idea about the advance though, while you're trying manifold vs. carb vacuum... might want to try unhooking the vacuum advance completely.
I tryed disconnecting the advance and tryed moving it from the carb to the manifold vacuum but it acted the same in every situation. I was thinking of taking it in to a carb shop i hear is really good and see how they diagnose the problem after a hands on approach to the situation. Seems as though i may need a closer look at the carb to figure out the problem, but thanks for the suggestions.
