Banks Torque Tubes (Headers) Installed!!!
I am impressed with Banks' quality. It is easy to see why these headers have a lifetime warranty.I drove the truck around town a little bit
and the SOTP dyno says there is a power increase across the band. One thing I noticed is that it seems to be running a little rich; I can smell gas (and it's not me)... I have a Diablo chip and heard that it might run lean with the headers. Could the richness be that the EEM is still learning the new setup or does anyone think a reprogram of the chip could be in my future? Thanks in advance,
Jeff
BTW, it still sounds like a pumped up V6, but it is a lot throatier (if that's a word...) now.
I installed a Power Pack system on my 02,V-10 without a chip and at first there wasn't any power increase whatsoever ,that is until I drove it about an hour.Once the computer adjusted for it,I believe mainly from the O2 sensor input,it ran very well and the power increase was quite noticable.
I added the Diablo Delta chip a week or two later. The chip was programmed with the Banks system in mind.Well.....the Banks gave it quite a bit more muscle and the Diablo was like a shot of adrenalin. It flat hauls a$$.
I have never experienced a richness problem at any time during my installs. The chip, when programmed for headers, gives a bit richer of a mixture than a standard program Diablo chip because of the added breathing benefits of the Banks setup.
My advice,for what it's worth.
Unplug the chip and drive your truck for an hour or two in mixed driving.Drive it easy a bit, hard a bit,in stop and go and hwy.situations.If this "cures" your perceived richness problem then get in touch with Ken and have your chip reprogrammed. If it still seems to run rich and there aren't any codes on the computer you need to get in touch with Ken.Regardless, you will need to talk to Ken at some time.
Bottom line,IMO,you need to have the chip "adjusted" for the Banks.Right now you are probably better off running without the chip until you have it reprogrammed because the standard chip program actually leans the mixture a bit.
You can post on the Chips section and Ken will get back with you in a day or two.
Hope this helps.
