I see that commercial alot, it does suck to see that the f-150 get beat, but...........thats ok, .I think i have just the right commercial for Ford to produce now,
Setting: A highway with a steep grade going up a mountain.
Parties involved: Dodge Ram Hemi, 2004 Ford F-150 5.4L
The senario, : Man is with his wife having a conversation while pulling their mobile home 4,500lbs, When on the next lane a Hemi pulls up next to them(having the same moblie home at 4,500lbs), looks over at them(driver and his wife), makes a big smile in a jerk like way, and slams on the accelerator and dissapears around the bend. The ford couple don't budge(Husband makes remark" I wonder if that thing has a Hemi") and proceed with their conversation.
Ending 1.
Close to the top of the Mountain, they see a truck and mobile home pulled over, What do you know its the Dodge Ram???( Giving the impresion that the hemi gave out or the trans broke or something went wrong with the truck) The ford Couple pass them up, and the Husband remarks once more, "I guess it did have a Hemi"
Ending 2

End thought;
I am not saying this is accurate but i think it would make a nice commercial. I'm not saying the dodge will always break down, It could happen the other way around with ford, but since this is a ford site, the effie will have the upperhand in my commercial.
Ram trucks are nice, i do like them, but I am Ford at heart just look at my gallery. So what do you'all think of my commercial?
good or bad?
It would be a funny commercial. I'll give you that. After time we might even see it would be an accurate representation. I have only seen 1 HEMI in pieces so far so I can't say its a bad engine. I know the 5.4L makes more torque at 1000rpm that the HEMI does. A drag race is not going to prove this.
Calling that non-HEMI engine a HEMI is the biggest marketing ploy I have seen so far. I am an old Mopar fan bigtime. Just as much as old ford musclecars. The new HEMI may be a great engine but is a disgrace to the name. May new engines use the HEMI design. If the HEMI of the new was anything like the HEMI of the old you wouldn't want it in your tow truck.

What makes a Hemi a Hemi? And what is "Hemi".
I'll tell you what it is. It is a patent trademark of Chrysler. They have the rights to it so they can use it like they want.
Back to the question. What makes a Hemi a Hemi? For the most part it is believed that the new Hemi is not a real Hemi. Prove that wrong or drop the non truth.

Research it and prove it as suspicious or not. Come back and tell us all what you find.
You can go to srtforums and check it out yourself. There are even a few down in the low 12's. I personally saw two seperate SRT-4 run 13.3 @ 107 with just a 400 dollar dealer option installed. From my understanding thats a little quicker than the stock lightning everyone seem to rave about so much.

if i could post attachments i would put up a good picture of the hemi combustion ch amber. it's anything but hemisphericle. theres a little bit of roundness on the sides thats about it.
i'm not a dodge fan myself, but why are we so hung up on a name. the facts show that the original "hemi" was not very hemispherical either-just like the new "hemi". Dodge can stick whatever name they want to on their trucks. heck, if i was them i'd stick it on there to sell a few more trucks.
also, i happen to believe that new "hemis" are awsome engines. i might have even bought one if the rest of the truck was worth 2 cents.
the thing that bugs me about the new hemi isn't the motor, it's the people who buy them and think they are owning a piece of muscle car history. i was on the dodge site and one guy actually thought his new hemi was an exact repro of the 426 only smaller. another posted pictures of a 426 head and claimed it was the 5.7 head. I'm sure it's a good strong running motor but it ain't no 426. also notice how the owners talk about their vehicles. they are so infatuated with the word hemi they leave out the truck part and just use the engine name. i was around when hemi powered cars hit the streets, we never called a hemi cuda a 'hemi'. if a guy went to the dealer drove the truck liked it and bought it more power to him. but i believe a lot of them heard 'hemi' ran down and bought the truck without a thought as to how it really runs. I'm not a dodge hater, i own one and it's a great truck.
imo the new hemi brings a conflict to the truck market. maby just the comercials but so many people now think that because there ride has a hemi that it will outrun anything. I've heard people talk about there hemi or a freinds hemi and they sound like a bunch of ricers. My new hemi blows away a 5.4 sounds the same as my V-tec will blow away that 427. it's childish and if Ford were really scared of the new hemi the would drop a lighting 5.4 in the new F 150. then lets see what the hemi crowed would say about that. If Ford were truly going to lose sales because of the hemi or another engine they could easily put out do the compitition. I just think that those ignorant new hemi owners should give alittle thought to what they bash. vice versa I also hate it when they say a 5.4 is crap refering to a new F150 when they say a lighting is fast, what do you think the lighting has? a 4.6? maby it's just the people around here i don't know.
Its pretty funny how when the commercials of the new 5.4 V8 F150 came out all you Ford guys got into HUGE flaming match's and challenged guys with HEMI's to a drag race while towing and while not towing. You would not let down the little claim that Ford made about 80% of the torque available at 1000RPM, and even though it only made 2lb/ft more than the HEMI @1000RPM you guys thought the 5.4 was untouchable and didn't understand why everyone said the HEMI was soo awesome. Now this test comes out from an independent source, NOT Dodge, and all you guys are saying, "Well I didn't buy my truck to race" and "racing isn't what my truck was made for" and "Full throttle is nothing, its all about partial throttle" umm okay...keep coming with the excuses. The Hemi is a stronger engine, get over it, even at partial throttle its more powerful. I remember reading once that one of the mod's or someone (whoever did the article on the front page) said "are you calling me a liar?" to a fellow member, Well it seems that once someone isn't being paid by a certain company, the true outcome will prevail.
I agree with Jeepguy. Anyway, I outran an '04 5.4 F-150 a few weeks ago with my '74 Cherokee (AMC 401, 6.6l) - and my peak torque comes in at 2800rpm, not 3750 like the 5.4. The guy was nice though, turns out he has a '78 Wagoneer as well. I can run circles around our '98 Expedition, too: uphill, downhill, or flat. Anyway, I think the new Mopar 5.7 is awesome, but don't you think Ford could have squeezed out a little more, like Nissan did with their 5.6l DOHC (379 lb-ft of torque @ 3,600 rpm)?
Geez. Why are there so many Dodge fans hanging around here??
I personally haven't seen any 5.4L owners here claiming they can outrun a 5.7L Ram so why are you Dodge guys so dang defensive about it to the point you're willing to waste so much time on a n non-Dodge site defending your over-hyped precious "Hemis"?? Get a life.
If you have a problem with Ford's commercial go whine to Ford. Do you realize how stupid it sounds to cry about it on a Ford trucks fansite? Noone here makes those commercials!
Ever notice that a Dodge Ram 5.7L isn't called a Ram anymore?? Nope. It's called a "Hemi"! How stupid is that. Does this mean I should start calling my F250 a "Triton"?? I can't even drive across town without some mean-looking kid in a Ram (sometimes Dakotas as well) trying to race me at a light or tailgate me up an on-ramp in an attempt to draw attention to their flashy new "Hemi".
I guess they can't miss a chance to reaasure themselves their Hemi Rams are as awesome as Dodge's commercials claim.
Mountainhound, don't get me wrong, I think our Expedition is awesome. It did tow my Jeep easily with no problems, but I think it could use a little more power. Haven't driven a new 5.4, so I don't know much about their power except that my Cherokee outran it. I think that many truck owners these days seem to hate everyone that doesn't drive what they drive - and these jerks respond to that by giving mean faces, or driving rudely. It doesn't make any sense to me!! I must say that this wouldn't be much of a Ford vs. the competition forum if there were no Dodge/Chevy/etc. owners, though. Here's a link to some of our towing pics, the airbag suspension is great!
