Gonna need some help.

Weel, I just got back from some serious mudding and the o/d light is blinking. Now I ran a search and I see that everyone else's problem has an abs light on and their speedo doesn't work. My speedo is a little jumpy but only over a five mph spread. Just a speed sensor or something worse?

Isyour transmission in safe mode? Shifting hard?

That's the thing , I didn't feel anything different on the tranny and I just had it pulled apart about 5k ago and the guy said everything looked great. I only have 34k on the truck.

Give this a try. Disconnect the batteries for about 15 minutes. This will reset the computer.

When people say the tranny shifts hard is it really that noticable? Plus I heard when the tranny goes into safe mode you can't go over 55?No problems with that.I pulled the vss and cleaned it with wd-40 and hooked it back up. No more blinking light from the o/d but the speedo is still shaky. Oh well, I guess i'll be at Ford's doorstep first thing in the morning.

Sounds like your VSS might be flaky...

I've seen my truck do the same thing, kinda. A couple times I was tring to pull out a stuck junk/yard truck in 4high, lots of wheel spin, then let off and stop, a few times, the OD light started flashing. Might be, it went into this "safe mode". The light reset next drive cycle. Is yours staying on after multiple drive cycle?

Yeah It reset after the first time I shut it off. I just got back from Fomoco. They said it's probably the vss but they can't look at it until Monday.I wouldn't be able to sleep this weekend thinking it was the Tranny.
