Or do you think they were using it to hold the dragser back so the dodge pickup could win the race. That's the commercial where the guy in the rail pops the chute before the green then tries to pull it across the intesection.
As an old MOPAR FREAK and married to one too I loved the old big block and hemi MOPARS but the new just ain't the same.
Anyone can build a HEMI even a group of GERMAN engineers. It's what you do with it that counts.

If I understand it correctly the HEAD is half a sphere (rubber ball cut in half) Dodge located the spark plug in the center of the head causing the plug to be located in a hole in the valve cover. This is what makes a hemi easy to spot.
With a combustion chamer as large as a hemisphere would make it, it becomes difficult to get the compression high enough to make power. They solved this in the 60s by using domed or 'pop-top' pistons. A problem with domed pistons is that they can interfer with travel of the flame front and cause incomplet combustion.
Personally I think the most efficient configuration would be a flat head with a dished piston. this would give the piston the most surface area in the combustion chamber and impart more force on the piston.
