4th gear grind

4th gear grind
Talk about pissed off! Under hard acceleration 4th gear scratches like a mad chicken now! Ironically, it didn't do it until right after I got my Flowmaster though I think that has nothing to do with it...
I only have 10, 500 miles on it, and it's an '03. I might take it to the dealer and have them re-fill the tranny with fluid and see if that helps. Any suggestions?

Nope, but I do have a theory. I also have the same trouble sometimes, read my thread on " sticky tranny" somewhere on this forum. I read somewhere that the clutch master cylinder may not be stroking far enough to completely dis-engage the trans under load. As far as I can tell the stroke is not adjustable on the o.e.m. part.

Hey,dude, that's between you and your dad. I would change my master cylinder, but I don't know if you have to have access to the slave cylinder to bleed the system or not. If so, then I'll wait 'til I need a clutch and do it all at the same time. I've tried different fluids in the tranny, from standard to synthetic, but it only does it under load, or hard acceleration. If I accelerate like my granny, then there's no problem.

Heck,
Even my auto trans acts up if I beat on it a bit. I think it's the fluid getting too hot. We don't have tranny radiators. what I thought was one, turned out to be a power steering fluid cooler.
I'm going to take the truck over to Steeda and have them toss in a tranny radiator for 150.00 bucks. I'm sure it will give me longer tranny life, and help it perform better when i'm stompin' on it.
