Disconnecting Fuel Line

I'm replacing a fuel pump in a 1996 E-150, but I cannot figure out how to disconnect the fuel line from the tank. The tank is ready to be pulled out, but the fuel lines are preventing it from being totally removed. How do I disconnect the lines? Or, is there a way to replace the pump without completely removing the tank?

Thanks in advance.

If you are trying to take the line loose where it attaches to the "in tank" unit then it probably has the "spring lock couplers" holding them together. You will need a special tool to release the locks.

Most of the chain auto parts stores sell these. They typically come in a kit of various sizes. Find the correct size, fit it over the steel line and push it into the coupler. Then just pull the line off.
