Question Houston area suspension guru needed

I am giving serious thought to replacing my stock 2002 F-250 4x4 CC diesel suspension with an aftermarket kit like Pro Comp's 4-inch sytem. Anybody have any good experiences with Houston area installers? Bad experiences? Any experiences?

I know that 4 Wheel Parts is there, but I'd like to talk to a couple of other shops.

Has anyone ever bumped up against warranty issues after lifting truck?

Some guys have told me not to lift any higher than 4 inches. Anybody care to weigh in on this?

Thanks in advance.

Why not go any higher than 4 inches? The only reason this would be true is if you tow a 5th wheel...

Why are you going with pro comp? Their springs are supposed to be stiff and sag after a while.. but its your money.

4 Wheel parts is fine, however when you talk to them and they try to sell you all the pro comp stuff don't forget that it's only because they own pro comp.

good luck

stroker,

Thanks for the info on the Pro Comp kit.

I installed a 4-inch Skyjacker system on an '85 CJ-7, and I was very happy with it. Although I had to lower the transfer case bracket about an inch to relieve driveline angle (serious vibration problem).

Did you install your system yourself? If not, where did you have the work done?

I'm not about to put a crappy system on a $40K, 4-ton vehicle.

bspeake,
Contact Diesel Innovations in Houston. I don't know if they do suspension work, they're more into racing and high performance. I would say just give them a call and see if they could reccomend a few good shops in the area. I'm sure he knows of some. David Lott is the owner. www.dieselinnovations.com

John's trimshop in Baytown knows what they are doing but as far as lift kits im a Fab tech fan they make some really good lifts im helped do a few trucks but then that was in FL LOL and the last truck well we had to use flat 15 inch rims to get it out the bay.

Yes i installed my lift myself.. no problems. They are simple and easy to install. I did the back one evening the front the next evening. Installing yourself is worth the outragous costs shop try to charge for installs. I have loved my superlift system. The only gripe is their sway bar drop brackets, they are not as nice as skyjacker's replacement links. Other than that it has been awesome. Also, get the longer brake lines. You wont have to worry about bending the hard lines, and they will firm up thepedal a bit. Cheap insurance in my opinion.

good luck

there are a couple good shops down in clear lake (north of galveston) like CRV offroad, and B&C offroad, they have nice lifts, especially b&c. but i would agree with everyone else, do it yourself, it will save you alot of money.
