My dad has a 1979 Ford Bronco with a 351 in it. We use it for plowing so the 4x4 is always being used. The only problem is that when shifting from 2 HI to 4 HI or 4 LOW it is really hard to shift. It does end up shifting but I am nervous that we are gonna break something and be screwed. I haven't really looked at it but what should I look for? Thanks.
my ranger did the same thing, the guy i bought it from thought that something major was wrong with it. i went underneath it with some pb blaster and sprayed it down really good and worked it back and forth and it fixed the problem. if not i believe there is a plastic bushing where the linkage connects and it may have gone bad and the rust has just built up.
heres an idea-on your t-case linkage where ever a rod goes through a piece-check the hole that it goes through-has it wallowed out-very common-THE FIX-go and get some heim joints-they look like a little tie rod end-cut and thread the rod and screw on the heim joint and bolt it to whatever it came off of=the smoothest linkage ya ever felt-works great on clutch linkages also
