Question Are PSOM's the same- auto vs. manual?

I did a search and couldn't find the info I am looking for.

I have 2 95 F-150's, one with a 5.8 and a E40D and the other is a 5.0 with a 5 speed.

My question is this.. Are all PSOM's or Speedometers the same from 92-96? The reason I am asking is I installed the one from my 5 speed into the auto because I have it calibrated for my 38's. The speedometer is correct for the speed that I am traveling, but the E40D doesn't shift properly. It up-shifts at about 3,500rpm's if I am flooring it as opposed to before it would goto about 4,500rpm's. Plus it doesn't downshift as well as it used to. I have a hard time getting the torque converter to unlock. If I am moving at lets say 45-50mph it won't even downshift or the torque converter won't unlock. I am running stock gears which are 3.55's. The overdrive light is not flashing and I don't have a check engine light. So there are no error codes.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks

I just changed a psom from a truck w/automatic to a truck with 5 speed. they are the same. they even had the same part# stampes on them. you might have a sensor or something else wrong, dont know all that much about the auto trans without referring to a manual.

I thought they are all the same too. What I don't understand is how it changed the shift points soo much. It almost acts like I have no kick down what so ever. It was fine before hand and I thought it would make it even better after the swap making it more accurate. I guess I could put the original back in it and recalibrate it and see if it changes or does the same thing as now. The original PSOM is going bad, it is starting to bounce and screw with the computer, thats why I changed it.

You either had an incorrect calibration before, or you have an incorrect calibration now. The speedometer tells the computer what speed you are moving so that the tranny knows when and where to shift. If your speedometer is off, your shift points will be off. The only difference between the speedos is the manual has a cover for the P R N D 2 1 indicator.
