strange electrical problem

Tach is DD and it is digital
AFA losing all other power... I asked about radio and a/c but he doesn't know since he cruises without tunes and listens to the engine
thru the open window.
Ground strap on dist plate.... DANG IT !!!! that's something we haven't thought of... but it is a solid state dist... but it's still worth a look...we'll check
